How to join the Scheme

Membership of a tenancy deposit scheme is a legal requirement for all landlords and agents who take a deposit for Assured Shorthold Tenancies. New tenancies must be registered at their start and end. To become a member of the Tenancy Deposit Scheme please download and complete the relevant application form. (download from the Documents and forms page. NB these forms can be filled in on your computer, saved and printed out using the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader, download your FREE Acrobat Reader here).

Membership requires adherence to specific Scheme Rules. Download a copy (see right hand column).

Organisations supporting education of tenants and landlords are being offered funding from the TDS Charitable Foundation.

The Foundation, which launched in 2014, has already funded a range of projects across the country including funding for the NUS to train renting students across the country, open door information events for landlords in Bradford, an information campaign by a community radio station in Wolverhampton, and literature on a new landlord licensing scheme in Brent .
